Bound log book titled “Information concerning P.V. Gear in 13th Flotilla”. There is an index of the 26 ships listed in the log: Medway, Moresby, Narborough, Nepean, Nictator, Nereus, Norseman, Obdurate, Octavia, Oracle, Onslow, Oriana, Orpheus, Oriole, Orsis, Oberon, Pelican, Paladin, Penn, Petard, Pigeon, Paisley, Pylades (all Admiralty M-Class); Nerissa and Rival (Yarrow M-Class) and Patrician (Thornycroft M-Class). Following the index, beginning on page 100 are entries about each ship. The letter he wrote is dated June 1915 somewhere in France and is addressed to Mrs. Newell. The letter concerns the death of her son, Lawrence Gunn Newell, on 23 April 1915 from wounds sustained during the advance on Ypres. The letter also concerns another son, Claude, and other soldiers from the Watford area. The Newell brothers were the sons of Thomas and Sarah Newell. Gunn Newell was the first Lambton County solider to die in the Great War. Copeland asks her to have the essence of his letter printed in the Watford newspaper.

This album was given to Kennedy, who lived in Collingwood, Ont., for Christmas 1912. The album contains b&w photographs that depict life there as well as trips to Wasaga Beach and the Nottawasaga River, Peterborough, Niagara Falls and Port Dalhousie, and Porcupine. The album arrived unbound so the order of the pages may not be correct. Notable photographs include Wahnapitae Camp, the 1912 flood, lakes ships such as the Turret Chief, the City of Midland and Dalhousie City, as well as the Bank of Ottawa in Porcupine. Some of Kennedy’s friends or family are identified in the album : various members of the Beasley family, Leila Ironside, Nettie McLeod, Leon Bosdet, V. Fitzgerald., Grace Stubbs, Miss Whalen, O.W. Wylde, Miss Richardson, Dorothy Mair, MacKay family, and Josephine White. Presumably it is Kennedy who appears with the caption “And now I wear the kilts”; there is another photograph where he is with V. Fitzgerald. Most photographs are not captioned.
This hand-lettered and illuminated book was presented to the Duke of Connaught to commemorate his visit to Hamilton.

Church of Christ (Toronto, Ont.)
The manuscript lists what appear to be the previous homes of the congregation: Broadway Hall, Brunswick Avenue, and now Bathurst Sreet in Toronto and then a summary of the program for the 28th of August 1904. Following this, it seems that all the congregants signed the book. Loose in the manuscript is a printed list of names and a published picture of the church exterior. Many of the names in the book correspond to the printed list.
