Art Cooper Collection of Comic Art and Fanzines
Collection contains original artwork and copies of posters for the McMaster Campus Cinema screening program; posters or comic art created or collected by Art Cooper; and fanzines and mini comics created in the Southern Ontario region, particularly in the early 1970s.

The collection consists of b&w photographs of fire trucks. There are trucks from the Burlington, Grimbsy, Kamsack, Kelowna, Kentville, Niagara, Niagara Falls, Pickering, Point Claire, Revelstoke, and the Canadian National Parks Fire Departments. Many of the trucks are identified as Bickle trucks. Founded in Winnipeg in 1906, the company had been moved to Woodstock, Ont. becoming Bickle Fire Engines Ltd. in 1922. Four of the photographs are taken by Charles W. Hayrall of Woodstock, Ont. One of the photographs was taken by W.J. Oliver. Most of the photographs are stationary portraits of trucks. Only three of the photographs show any action: two men are atop the Canadian National Parks truck operating the fire hose at a lake; one photograph is of a truck moving down a street; one photograph is of men climbing a fire truck ladder.

Fonds consists of cassette tapes containing recordings of interviews conducted by Neil Armstrong of prominent Black and Caribbean artists, authors, poets, publishers, academics, and politicians for the York University student radio, CHRY 105.5FM. Interviews cover topics such as Black and Caribbean history, literature, community events, international work, and more. Interviewees include The Honourable Lincoln Alexander, Dionne Brand, Afua Cooper, The Honourable Rosemary Brown, Austin Clarke, George Elliott Clark, Louise Bennett (Miss Lou), and others. Some tapes have interviews or speeches made by these individuals outside of a CHRY interview.
Tapes were numbered in accordance with the original order upon arrival. Note: The “A” or “B” following the tape number reflects which side of the tape the recording may be found. Tapes without an affixed letter contain only one recording.

Pringsheim’s uncle was Thomas Mann and some documents relating to the Mann family also form part of this fonds.

De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Ltd. collection
There have been two accruals. The first accrual measures 6 cm and covers the period 1943-1992; predominant 1975-1992. It consists of various publications produced by de Havilland, Boeing and Bombardier. They include company, periodicals, calendars, postcards, leaflets and programmes, as well as illustrated product information sheets on the Dash-7 and Dash-8. There are pamphlets on the merger with Boeing and with Bombardier. There is one newspaper clipping about Olivia de Havilland’s visit to Toronto in 1988. There is also an oversize drawing of the de Havilland Mosquito IV printed from The Aeroplane, England, 7 May 1943. The second accrual measures 5 cm, 1927-1958. It consists of photographs, pamphlets and newsletters. There are photographs of the Beaver, Caribou, Chipmunk, Fox Moth, Mosquito bombers, and the Moth. The Caribou was sold to the U.S. Army; many of the photographs are of the Army training.

The fonds consists of correspondence, minutes, publications, reports, press releases, news clippings. There are also printed materials belonging to other groups, including the Japanese Canadian Citizens Association.

The fonds contains correspondence between Evelyn Mae Kapitain and her brother Charles G. Kapitain during his time served in the AEF. Also included are military associated letters and documents, newspaper clippings, two German postcards found in the Argonne Woods and US military postcards to Evelyn Kapitain from an unknown individual.

The fonds consists of a biographical sketch of Dr. Totton, his Royal Army Medical Corps certificate of commission, his Canadian army Medical Corps certificate of commission issued retroactively, a Christmas entertainment program from the No. 8 General Hospital, Boisguillaume, France, a photocopy of one page from the University of Toronto Roll of Service, trench maps, photographs, including hospitals in France, and post cards.

Iroquois Falls fire of 1916 collection
Iroquois Falls is a town in Northern Ontario, home to the Abitibi Pulp and Paper Co. Ltd. The Great Fire took place on 28-29 July of 1916. Over one hundred people died.
The collection consists of three photographs all stamped on the verso “British and Colonial Press Ltd., Toronto”. One is of the Abitibi Pulp and Paper Co. Ltd plant. The second has a handwritten caption on the verso: “#18 Iroquois Falls – Bldgs. constructed in 3 weeks with Govt. Relief lumber by voluntary labor by employees of Abitibi Pulp & Paper Co. Standing on the steps are are Messrs. A.J. Hodgson & F.K. Ebbits, members of the Relief Committee at Iroquois Falls.” The third has a handwritten caption on the verso: “#19 General view burned area of Iroquois Falls. Abitibi Pulp and Paper Co. in background.” There is also a postcard photograph of the plant.
