The fonds consists of textual and audio records pertaining to Bernadette Ryan’s literary career, academic teaching at McMaster University and Mohawk College, and work on the podcast series Art Waves (episodes 1-87).

Series groupings predominantly reflect the received order of records; any additional groupings were supplied by the processing archivist following functional analysis of Ryan’s writing, community work, and teaching career.

The fonds is very comprehensive and includes: 32 notebooks in which Cockburn composed most of his song lyrics from 1969 to 2002; song sheets and scores; correspondence, including fan mail; awards, including gold records; promotional material, including posters; tour books; scrapbooks; photographs; a copy of each of Cockburn’s recordings; video and film items; and other material.

There have been twelve accruals. It is divided into two series: manuscripts and typescripts; and literary correspondence, which is divided into two subseries (correspondence relating to individual poetry books; and general literary correspondence). The second accrual consists correspondence and manuscripts arranged into three series: Harbinger Poetry, the Literary Review of Canada and Levenson's collected poems. The third accrual consists of four series: collected poems; manuscripts and typescripts; other literary activities; correspondence. The fourth accrual consists of four series: manuscripts, collected poems, sound recording, personal and literary correspondence. The fifth accrual consists of three series: writings, correspondence, and other work. The sixth accrual contains writing and correspondence. The seventh accrual consists of the collected poems for Levenson's thirteenth volume of poetry, as well as correspondence, recordings, and teaching material. The eighth accrual includes reviews, publications, and posters. The ninth accrual consists of the collected poems for Levenson's fourteenth volume of poetry, correspondence, and recordings. The tenth accrual consists of collected poems for Levenson’s fourteenth volume of poetry and correspondence. The eleventh accrual combines accessions 2020—015 and 2021-008. It consists of correspondence, poetry for Levenson’s fourteenth and fifteenth volumes; recordings and Dutch translation of Levenson’s book of poetry. The twelfth accrual is arranged into the following series: Writing; Literary activities; Society of Friends (Quakers); Teaching, Readings, Workshops and publications; Correspondence. The thirteenth accrual consists primarily of correspondence between Levenson and friends, other authors, publishers, academics, and select correspondence with politicians; this accrual also contains a small number of records pertaining to Levenson’s time as a student, his pre-academic employment, his tenure at Carleton, and his writing.

The fonds consists of textual materials and photographs pertaining to Donaldson’s personal life, creative work, and academic career at McMaster University. Documentary forms include Jeffery Donaldson’s notebooks, journals, research, and manuscripts for his various published and unpublished works.

The fonds consists of research materials, manuscripts, and correspondence pertaining to Brandis’ writing activities; these files depict the extensive research, planning, and revision that she has undertaken while writing. The first two accessions are arranged under 5 series: Writing, Public Talks and Events, Promotional Materials, Printed material about Brandis, and Artwork. The third accession is arranged into 4 series: Published Work, Unpublished Works, Talks and Teaching, and Reviews and Awards. A number of her books were removed from the rest of the materials and have been catalogued for Research Collections.

The fonds consists of photographs, military documents, and letters he wrote to his parents and his fiancée, Catharine Carroll. There is also a letter written by Jack Barker to Don’s parents. There are two oversized framed photographs. One is of the “Canadian Armaured <sic> Corps Recruits Draft Toronto Exhibition July 30th 1941.” The second is of “2nd Platoon ‘A’ Coy. OR(T) R’s #20 C.A.B.T.C. Brantford Ont. Winners of Battalion Competition 23-9-41. Lieut. Barker.” His medals do not form part of this fonds; they are held by his grandson, Donald Turner.

The sixth accrual (32-2004) which extends to 6.3 m, and has been arranged in seven series: teaching, correspondence, writing, writing related activities, personal documentation and memorabilia, printed material, and moving images and sound recordings.has not been arranged, described or measured.

The seventh accrual (71-2008) measures 8 m and has been arranged into six series: teaching; correspondence; writing and royalties; readings, conferences, appointment books; photographs, artwork, moving images.

Several series are arranged by the offices he held over the course of his career: i.e., Member of Provincial Parliament and Leader of the Ontario New Democratic Party (1963-1977), Canada’s Ambassador to the United Nations (1984-1988), Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF (199), and United Nations Special Envoy to HIV/AIDS in Africa (2001-2006). Fonds consists of material created and collected by Keith Patrick during his time as a Wireless Air Gunner in the RCAF during the Second World War, including correspondence, photographs, training material, realia, and cartographic material. Fonds also includes material collected after the war which relates to his wartime experiences and civilian life.

Collection consists of chapbooks, broadsides, literary periodicals, and ephemera collected by Barwin from predominantly Canadian small presses. 138 small presses are included in the collection, with heavy representation from influential chapbook publishers above/ground press, Proper Tales Press, and No Press. Barwin’s press, Serif of Nottingham, is also heavily featured.
