The collection consists of two accruals. The first accrual consists of correspondence and publications by the brothers as well as publications about them. The accrual has been arranged into the following series: John Cowper Powys; Theodore Francis Powys; Llewelyn Powys; Writings by A.R. Powys; Writings about the Powys family and their works; Periodicals. The second accrual consists of two items, an autograph letter and postcard written by Llewelyn Powys.

Series consists of correspondence with newspapers with which Russell had complaints for statements made about him. Russell's letters include requests for apologies and statements to be published in newspapers. Some letters are written by Ralph Schoenman or Chris Farley. Outgoing correspondence consists of typescript copies. Acquired as part of Archives 1.

Item consists of a single volume of a larger work.

Series consists of approximately 90 publishers contracts of which most are from the publishers listed in series 410, and several letters relating to the contracts. Also includes other financial documents, such as a list of Russell's earnings in 1950.

Series consists of correspondence with Russell's publishers as well as requests for Russell to contribute writings for various journals, pamphlets, etc. Also includes some book covers from Allen & Unwin for some of Russell's published works. Letters from Russell and his staff are typescript copies; some received letters are photocopies.

Acquired as part of Archives 1 and Archives 2. The print finding aid for Archives 2 states that the series "represent the general correspondence of Russell and his staff with publishers of every description. Includes some Vietnam publishing correspondence. There are several files with George Allen & Unwin Ltd., Russell's English publisher since 1916, including one stray letter from 1919. The general correspondence contains much information about translations of Russell's works - e.g., a Russian translation of "Satan in the Suburbs" in Zvezda, 1963."

Series consists of correspondence, 1956-1966, the published proceedings of the 2nd-13th Pugwash Conferences, reports of various Conferences, agendas and minutes of the 1st-3rd and 10th Conferences, as well as minutes of some Pugwash Continuing Committee meetings. Other printed materials include news clippings, booklets, offprints, statements, and two published histories of the Pugwash movement, including ‘The Pugwash Movement: Its History and Aim’, London, 1960 (in box 1.39). Of particular note is the correspondence between Russell and Cyrus Eaton, the primary financier of the Pugwash Conferences; correspondence with Conference co-founder Joseph Rotblat; and letters written by Lady Edith Russell and Anne Eaton. Letters from Russell are typescript copies. The Pugwash Conferences were an outgrowth of the Russell-Einstein Manifesto, bringing international scientists together to reflect on the social consequences of their work; the first Conference took place in 1957; Russell was not in attendance. Most of this series was acquired as part of Archives 1, with additional items acquired with Archives 2.

The handscroll is an Imperial mandate from the Tongzhi Emperor ( 1856-1875) to the parents of Lu Chuan-Lin (1836-1910), an officer of the court and a Jinshi who passed the highest Imperial examinations. The text which is in Mandarin and Manchu, is written in ink and gold paint upon contiguous panels of blue, fuchsia, gold, cream and purple silk, backed onto sections of laid paper. The edict proclaims a promotion given to a Manchu official. The emperor praises the distinguished service of Lu Chuan-Lin. The scroll is wound around two cedar dowels at both ends, and is tied with multicoloured flat silk ribbon. The scroll is housed in an acid-free box.

There is also one file of newspapers clippings, labelled "Quebec situation", one file concerning Opération libération, one file of mimeographs from unidentified organizations and two pamphlets.

Quittance by the Constable of France [ie Henri de Montmorency, not named in text] of seigneurial rights relating to the seigneurie of Mauregard. This followed on a contract between two parties, the first comprising of the Doya [Dean?] de Billy, escuier, Lord of Mauregard in France and of Manguinard in Beausse, his eldest daughter Catherine de Billy, and his daughters Jehanne and Margeurite de Billy, together with their respective husbands Pierre du Rousseau, escuier, Lord of Monvilliers, and Jacques Daunery, escuier, Lord of La Mothe du Riene. The other party to the contract was Jacques Amelot, Lord of Carnetin, king's councillor in the court of Parliament. By reason of an exchange between these parties of the land of Mauregard, the Constable has discharged 133 ecus of appointed revenue, and, the Lords Amelot and Duy [Dean?] paying him 100 ecus in cash, he discharges his seigneurial rights relating to the acquisition.

Manuscript also contains a prayer not from the Qur'an. Illumination in floral pattern.

An incomplete manuscript. Contains all of the Qur'an but also contains other prayers. Part of a series, neither the first or last volume. Turkish in origin. Illumination in black, gold, green, and red. There are two pages containing only illumination in the same colours.

The fonds consists of expedition and research notes, a small amount of correspondence, biological illustrations, and offprints. The fonds was supplemented by books owned by Wolfenden, some of which have been catalogued.

The fonds consists of records related to Rachel Manley’s writing career, particularly the period from the late 1990s on when she began writing non-fiction memoirs about her family members.

Series groupings have been supplied by the processing archivist following functional analysis. Principal documentary forms include manuscripts and promotional records related to Manley’s books.

Series consists of correspondence and other documents regarding Russell's radio broadcasts and television appearances, primarily with the BBC, but also including US networks ABC, CBS and NBC; Canada’s CBC; Australia’s ABC; Polskie Radio, Radio Free Europe, and many others. The BBC material includes a file on “The Life and Times of Bertrand Russell”, a 92nd birthday tribute; it contains a script, shot lists, and other documents relating to the May, 1964 broadcast, featuring Robert Bolt (interviewer), A.J. Ayer, Robert Boothby, Michael Foot, Julian Huxley, Miles Malleson and Leonard Woof. Also included are letters regarding a 1959 broadcast relating to Wisdom of the West, and correspondence with journalists such as Alistair Cooke, Kenneth Harris and Woodrow Wyatt. Most of the series was acquired with Archives 1, with a few additional items acquired with Archives 2.

The fonds consists of two scrapbooks which contain mainly news clippings outlining Ellis' many activities. See also the National Committee for Independent Canadian Unions fonds for further biographical information on Ellis as well as some correspondence.
