There have been two accruals which have been combined. The OGD fonds consists of the following: history, general correspondence, chairmen's correspondence, secretary's files, membership, newsletters, awards and symposia.

The fonds consists of 26 letters, dated between March and October 1915 and five postal receipts. It has been arranged in chronological order, the letters in folders numbered 1-26 and the receipts in a separate folder. Four of the letters were sent by Ada Hartmann to her husband, the remainder being sent by Otto to her. His letters reflect various experiences in the war, with many references to his company's movements and activities, to the transportation and work duties of the prisoners, and to the ranks, salaries, uniforms and weapons of the Prussian Army. He also touched on non-military topics, including singing, cigars, and other social matters. Among the people named in his letters were: battalion commander Major [Flienitz?]; Oberstleutnant Kuntzel; Vizefeldwebel Vick; Victor Ansaux, a prisoner at Münster; and the family of Paul Voss. Most often comprising only one folded page, his letters were sent by Feldpost, the postal service of the German Army. The letters from Ada, which were typically longer, often concerned various household purchases, payments into the Militärdienst-Versicherung (military service insurance – see receipts below), and such events as a trip with the children to Hagenbeck Zoo. Both wrote in the Spitzschrift or Kurrentschrift form of handwriting typical of the day, though Ada's writing was more flourished and regular than Otto's. Due to water damage and poor paper quality, the letters and envelopes are extremely brittle and are in places very difficult or impossible to decipher.
Note: Although encapsulated, the letters are still extremely fragile and easily damaged. Researchers are asked to use the photocopies provided wherever possible to avoid further damage.

The five Posteinlieferungsscheinen [postal receipts], are postmarked in Minden and presumably obtained by Ada Hartmann. Each consists of a printed form filled out in ink. Three blue-green receipts were issued for small deposits made in 1916 and 1917 to an account with the Deutsche Militärdienst-Versicherung of the Hanover branch of Berlinische Lebens-Versicherungs-Gesellschaft (Berlin Life Insurance Company). The remaining two receipts were issued for larger amounts sent by postal order in the same period to Gotthard Luch in Homberg an der Ohm, Oberhessen (Upper Hesse).

The Jo Vellacott fonds contains extensive documentation regarding Vellacott’s work as a historian of women, feminism, pacifism, and Bertrand Russell, both as an academic at several Canadian universities, as well as her work as an independent scholar. The fonds contains a significant amount of correspondence, both personal and professional, which spans almost the entirety of Vellacott’s life. Fonds also contains materials relating to Vellacott’s education, particularly her PhD work at McMaster University, and much of her personal and scholarly writings. It also contains materials relating to Vellacott’s Quakerism and involvement with the Thousand Island Monthly Meetings, as well as photographs of Vellacott and paintings and sketches she made.

There have been three accruals. There was a small second accrual of 2 letters from Patrick Lane to Fraser Sutherland. The text of one of these letters was transcribed by Fraser Sutherland in his letter to McMaster of 7 May 1976. The location of the two letters is unknown. The third accrual consits of a letter from Lane to Asher Joram (Jack), a letter from Lane to Norman Hart, and b&w print illustrations.

The fonds consists of administrative records: correspondence, minutes, reports, circulars, news letters and published materials. There have been nine accruals and one addendum.

This fonds consists largely of material relating to Calamai’s career in journalism. The files contain professional materials, including research, writing, and items, and some personal materials. There are extensive files for Calamai’s major journalism projects, and there are a large number of files that include clippings and teleprint copies of Calamai’s many news articles. The files also include general reportorial material that Calamai has accumulated during his long career as a reporter. Donated books were removed from the rest of the materials and have been catalogued for Research Collections.

The fonds consists of manuscripts, reviews, and correspondence.

The fonds consists primarily of material related to Foulds’ time during the Second World War, as well as an album related to his father’s service in the First World War. The material includes his pilot’s logbook, textual documents, and a large scrapbook.

The fonds consists of a scrapbook with items pasted in as well as items found loose inside it. Some of items have been placed in file folders along with other items that were found outside the scrapbook.

There have been sixteen accruals. The first accrual consists of correspondence, research materials, photographs, newspapers and news clippings, maps, and manuscripts. The second accrual consists of manuscripts, research files, and correspondence. The third accrual consists of manuscripts, research materials, Heritage Canada materials and correspondence. The fourth accrual consists of manuscripts and correspondence. The fifth accrual consists of manuscripts, correspondence, Heritage Canada materials, and Berton Celebration dinner. The sixth accrual consists of manuscripts and correspondence.The seventh accrual consists of correspondence including some early family correspondence, juvenilia and journals, and manuscripts. The eighth accrual consists of manuscripts and correspondence. The ninth accrual consists of correspondence, manuscripts, newspaper columns, news clippings. The tenth accrual (03-1998) measures 7.1 m, consists of correspondence, manuscripts, and printed materials, 1898-1998; 1994-1996 predominant. The eleventh accrual (05-1999 and 19-1999) measures 12.9 m and consists of the following: correspondence, media, contracts, manuscripts, speeches, promotional material, printed material, public relations, personal, research files and other material, artwork, photographs and audio-visual materials. The twelfth accrual (16-2002) measures 6m and consists of correspondence, royalty statements, photographs, clippings, manuscripts and research material. The thirteenth accrual (50-2007) has been arranged into nine series: books, articles, and other writings; public appearances; correspondence; pocket diaries and address book; subject files; news clippings; drawings, photographs and sound recordings; oversized materials. The fourteenth accrual (52-2008) consists of 4 letters to and from T.G. Reed. The fifteenth accrual (2012-001) consists of early writings, contracts, personal and awards, research material, chronological files, printed material, correspondence, photographs and sound recordings. The sixteenth accrual (2013-040) consists of writings; correspondence; personal, art work and graphic publications; subject files and photographs, graphic and printed materials.

The fonds consists of approximately 360 letters to Tas from composers and musicians, 4 letters from Tas, printed materials such as programmes and news clippings, and photographs.

Series 1 is particularly significant, containing 12,000 case files documenting the creation of approximately 50,000 thirty-second radio and television commercials produced by Pirate Group Inc. (Toronto office) and its predecessor companies: O’Reilly Radio Inc., Robert Armes Inc., Shurman Armes Crawford, and The Air Company, from 1981 to 2005. These files document the entire production process from the initial phase through to the finished product, though some files are more complete than others. The material found in the file may include: concept presentations; casting sessions and auditions; ACTRA contracts and other actor contracts; script progression and revision; briefing documents; final recording-day scripts with directors notes; recording session schedules; music demos, final tracks, sheet music and lyrics; production edits; final audio mixes, element breakdown of the recording (voices, sound effects, music); final radio and TV commercials; budget estimates, quotations and final billing; etc.

The fonds consists of expedition and research notes, a small amount of correspondence, biological illustrations, and offprints. The fonds was supplemented by books owned by Wolfenden, some of which have been catalogued.

The fonds consists of records related to Rachel Manley’s writing career, particularly the period from the late 1990s on when she began writing non-fiction memoirs about her family members.

Series groupings have been supplied by the processing archivist following functional analysis. Principal documentary forms include manuscripts and promotional records related to Manley’s books.
