The fonds contains correspondence between Evelyn Mae Kapitain and her brother Charles G. Kapitain during his time served in the AEF. Also included are military associated letters and documents, newspaper clippings, two German postcards found in the Argonne Woods and US military postcards to Evelyn Kapitain from an unknown individual.

The fonds consists of a bound album compiled by E.J. Edward containing a list of all productions, cast lists, written descriptions of the costumes supplemented by watercolour illustrations of the productions, and b&w photographs of the cast in performance. There is also a b&w photograph of the committee in military uniform and a b&w photograph of the orchestra, many who were also members of the committee.

The minutes cover the period from December 1915 to October 1918; the last set of minutes is found loose in the minute book. The bound minute book commences with a name index of those who appeared before the tribunal.

Morris Drury fonds

The fonds consists of letters written by Drury to his mother, grandmother, grandfather and aunt Fran. The letters discuss Drury's day to day activities, the people he has met and the places he has visited. In the last letter Drury describes his experience with the Fleet Illuminations and includes a newspaper clipping (17 July 1935) covering the event.

The letters are hand written in ink and pencil on varying qualities of paper. A preservation copy was made of a letter written in pencil on poor quality paper. Repair work was done to the newspaper clipping and a preservation copy included in the file.

The fonds consists of letters to his wife and family, official notification of his death, letters from his fellow soldiers to his wife, a notebook with brief entries of the regiment’s movements and lists of soldiers, and photographs. Most of the photographs were taken in Egypt. They include a railway station, encampments, a football pitch and camel transport, as well a photograph of Sgt. Haydon. Also included in the fonds are photographs of Haydon’s brother Ted and his wife’s brother Peter Ryan, both of whom served in the War.

The fonds (seven numbered files, files 10-16) consists of the following: (10) correspondence, 1914-36, including a postcard from Captain W.J. Peppiart about Stephenson’s enlistment, a letter from Edwin, 2 greeting cards from Norma (his sister), and a photocopy of a letter from Roy to Harry (Henry Arthur Stephenson, 22 October 1918); (11) 8 b&w photographs (several being reproductions), including group photograph of the Burlington Volunteers, 1st Canadian Contingent, and the grave site of A.T. Thomson at Mount St. Eloi Cemetery; (12) black notebook of WWI news clippings and other clippings of the period; (13) ephemeral publications, including Thanksgiving Service Canadian Corps Vimy Ridge (April 9th 1917), Regimental Songs Canadian Expeditionary Force 1914-1915, The 1st Canadian Division in the Battle of 1918, The Listening Post (no. 22, 15 February 1917), The Rose of No Man’s Land (music score), Bruce Bairnsfather’s Fragments from France, part VI, and the War Pictorial (embarkation number, part four); (14) WWI medal and brass buttons from Stephenson’s coat; (15) discharge certificate, 2 June 1919; (16) information about Stephenson’s war record from Gwendoline Stephenson, his daughter, and a copy of Stephenson’s attestation papers.

The fonds consists of two pocket diaries kept by Taylor in 1917 and 1919. There are also three bound typescripts of his autobiography, “Nothing but the Truth”, one of which has some photographs. The photographs include: two taken in Saskatchewan (p. 51); three from his university days (pp. 57, 61, 63) and one of his wife and infant son in England (p.96). He wrote his autobiography several years after his second marriage in 1965. It is dedicated to his grandchildren. Two of the volumes are similar in content and cover his life from boyhood to his return from World War I. The third volume, a typescript carbon, also describes his life after his return to Canada.

The fonds consists of correspondence, photographs and realia. There are letters from all three sons to their mother and their father as well as letters from their father to their mother, one letter from Donald to Ronald, news clippings and post cards. There are also two b&w photographs of French people and one b&w photograph presumably of Elizabeth Agnew, a handkerchief embroidered with the flags of various nations, a pencil and crayon sketch of a house, and money issued by Germany during its occupation of Belgium.

The fonds consists of ten letters written by Millen to his wife, Helen Ethel Millen. The letters outline the day-to-day activities Millen participated in. A letter written in July 1918 comments on the arrival of the "Yankee" troops. A letter written 6 September 1918 provides details of Millen's involvement with the battles along the Hindenburg Line on 2 and 3 September 1918.

The album contains 191 photographs. Subjects of the photographs include training at the riding school in Ottawa, the troops en route on the Adriatic, and photographs of time spent at Shorncliffe and Crowborough. Some photographs were taken at the Perkins Bull Hospital for Convalescent Canadian Officers and the Shrewsbury Aerodrome AAP. There are also photographs of Ireland, particularly Cork-Killarney.

Jane Abbott fonds

The fonds consists of Jane Abbott’s diary, dated 15 May 1914, to 17 September 1914. The diary is an account of the Abbotts’ visit to Europe, primarily Vienna. The highlights of the diary are the June 28 entry relating to the assassinations and the July 2 entry in which Abbott describes witnessing the return of the bodies to Vienna. The diary also details the Abbotts’ social life in Europe, including their interactions with other American visitors such as Dr. Russell M. Wilder and his wife. The fonds includes 7 documents that were found inside the diary. One of these documents is a letter, dated 26 April 1914, written by Jane Abbott while en route to Europe aboard the TSS Kaiser Franz Joseph I, and addressed to Ruth Abbott of Chicago, likely the sister of Dr. Abbott.
