The first accrual consists of newspaper clippings and correspondence with individuals such as Lincoln Alexander and Jean Sauve regarding research funding, grants and science policy issues important to Dr. Spenser. There is also correspondence pertaining to library acquisitions made possible through the assistance of Dr. Spenser, some printed materials relating to McMaster University and newspaper clippings. The second accrual consists of his doctorial thesis (1952) and offprints of his published works, numbered 1-136. The third accrual consists of photos and ephemera from Spenser's trips to Japan.

The fonds consists of two series. One series contains correspondence, submissions, photographs (both used and not used) and issue files for Canada: An Historical Magazine. The other series contains microfilms of historical research materials that Gagan used for his book, Hopeful Travellers: Families, Land and Social Change in Mid-Victorian Peel County, Canada West (c 1981). There have been four accruals. The first accrual (57-1995, 30 cm) consists of manuscripts and research notes for three of his published works, Interior Landscapes: A Life of Paul Nash (1987), The Last Modern: A Life of Herbert Read (1990), and Virginia Woolf (1994); draft typescript and galley proof; and editorial and literary correspondence (including Graham Greene, Stephen Spender, Muriel Spark, and Francis Bacon).

The second accrual (26-1997, 60 cm) consists of material relating to The Life of Margaret Laurence (1997), editorial notes, photographs and correspondence (including Margaret Atwood, Timothy Findley, Al Purdy, and letters from Margaret Laurence to her editor, Alan Maclean.

The third accrual (27-1999, 68 cm) consists of three series: manuscripts and related material for Faking (1999) and Jack: A Life with Writers, The Story of Jack McClelland (1999), photographs, and literary correspondence.

The fourth accrual (16-2001, 20 cm) consists of two draft typescripts of *Farley: The Life of Farley Mowat</I> (2002) and editorial correspondence.

The fonds consists of five accruals. The first accrual measures 1.35 m, and consists of photographs, minutes, reports, memoranda, notes, and correspondence relating to Waisglass's various positions. The second accrual (20-1990) measures .45 m, and consists of addresses, articles, and notes by Waisglass in original and printed form, files of correspondence and notes on some of the positions held by Waisglass. The third accrual (30-1996) measures 1.75 m, and consists of arbitration files, a research manual co-edited by Waisglass, and video and audio cassettes of interviews conducted by Waisglass with several labour leaders. The fourth accrual (33-1997) measures 33 cm, and consists primarily of arbitration and grievance files. The fifth accrual (15-2001) consists of correspondence, letters to the editor, lecture notes, articles, thesis, and biographical information.
