The fonds consists mainly of invitations to social events, including assemblies, receptions, commencements, banquets and balls. There is a news clipping of a review of the play “Old Soldiers” put on by the Brantford Amateurs in the Stratford Opera House in 1885 in which both Kilmasters acted. Pauline Johnson also acted in this play. There are also programmes, the funeral notice (noted above), a trespass notice, dancing instructions, three letters, a few documents related to the Dufferin Rifles, Jolite Club meeting notices, several news clippings, and miscellaneous printed materials. Most of the activities took place in Brantford and surrounding towns. However, some invitations are from places in Michigan.

Their have been two accruals. The first accrual consists of correspondence, manuscripts, biographical information, news clippings, pamphlets, posters, scrapbooks, issues of Grip, 1873-1894, and engraving plates. The second accrual (16-1990) consists of a cartoon and photographs. The fonds was supplemented by many of Bengough's books which have been catalogued.

Fonds consists of ten accruals. The first accrual (28-1996; 32-1996) measures 1.8 m, and has been arranged into the following series: manuscripts, speeches and miscellaneous; certificates and awards; photographs and albums; newspaper clippings and journals; sound recordings. It includes correspondence, an appointment book, and family history research materials The second accrual (12-1998) measures 32 cm, and has been arranged into the following series: speeches, correspondence; political files; news clippings. The third accrual (29-1998) measures 1.7 m, and has been arranged into the following series and sub-series: correspondence (congratulatory, family, general, gubernatorial, literary, political, and research); manuscripts and typescripts (autobiographical, books, broadcast scripts, lay sermons, newspaper columns, novels, poetry, screen plays, speeches, stories, uncategorized); printed materials (military reports, news clippings including reviews of his works, programs, stamp covers); photographs; sound recordings. The fourth accrual (39-1999 and 41-2000) measures 20 cm, and has been arranged into the following series: correspondence, manuscripts and typescripts, and printed materials and photographs. The fifth accrual (11-2001) measures 12.5 cm and consists of audio cassettes, a speech typescript and a colour photograph. This sixth accrual (12-2002) measures 6cm and has been arranged in two series: correspondence; typescripts, programs, photographs and printed materials. The seventh accrual (15-2002) measures 5.5 cm and consists of two guest books and photographs of certificates. The eighth accrual (30-2002) measures 10 cm and consists of printed material and two photograph albums. The ninth accrual (14-2003) consists of three issues of Leather Lines: The Journal of the Leather Familty History Society. The tenth accrual (5-2005) measures 12.5 cm and consists of correspondence, honorary awards, and his death certificate and funeral services.

The second (07-2005) consists of three series: Reginald Trotter’s diaries; Marjorie and Frances Trotter’s diary and printed material. The third (01-2009) consists of four series: Reginald Trotter, Thomas Trotter, Elle Maud Trotter and Marjorie and Francis Trotter.

The fonds is contained in a green leather album trimmed in gold. It consists of correspondence mostly addressed to Katharine Birkmyre, although a few letters are addressed to her father, Canon Skelton and to her husband. It also includes invitations, dinner menus and autographs, two photographs of the Red Cross Hospital in Gibraltar, and her admission badge to the Royal enclosure at the Ascot races in 1937. There is one letter from Archibald Philip Primrose, Earl of Rosebery and another from Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman, both prime ministers, to Henry Birkmyre. Both letters concern Birkmyre's defeats in elections held in 1895 and 1899. There is also one letter from Edmund Gosse, poet and man of letters, addressed to Lady Charnwood. The album has been annotated by Katharine Birkmyre.

The fonds consists of a diary and typescript of the diary transcribed by Dr. Norman Shrive. Passages within the diary include "Sunshine and Storm by a Rifleman,1870" and a brief passage entitled "Journey through Persia and other Eastern countries," written by Corporals R. Murphy and J. Kenderick. Murphy and Kenderick are identified as serving with the 100th Royal Rifles. The diary also contains personal information about Snelling, including family health and business prosperity. There is a page of business transactions from 1873.

Edward Manning Saunders and Marshall Saunders

There have been two accruals. The first accrual contains the typescript of the Tupper book which has been annotated by Margaret Marshall Saunders as well a typescript of an unpublished work by her, "Poor Phoebe". There is correspondence relating to the Tupper book, including correspondence between Edward Saunders and Sir Charles Tupper (1821-1915). Tupper was a physician from Nova Scotia who briefly served as Prime Minister of Canada in 1896. There is correspondence gathered as part of the research of the Tupper book, including one undated letter from Sir John A. MacDonald (1815-1891) to Tupper. There is also correspondence to Margaret Marshall Saunders, mainly from the 1930s. This accrual also contains photographs and news clippings. This accrual was supplemented by books owned by Margaret Marshall Saunders. They have been separately catalogued. The second accrual is a letter, 28 March 1894, from Margaret Marshall Saunders to Faith Fenton.

The fonds consists of 24 letters from Gould to his parents, 1915-1917, fifteen pencil sketches of scenes behind the British lines and a self-portrait, drawings and watercolours of landscapes (including juvenilia), Parisian architecture (1910), and nature studies, b&w photographs, news clippings, maps, letters of condolence, letters about the book Memorial and a letter concerning the Arras memorial in 1932, mostly bound in an album. There are annotations throughout by Frederick J. Gould. There are also a memorial card and letter of condolence with regard to Gould's sister who died at age six in 1893 and a photograph of St. George's Chapel Choir, Windsor, in 1865 (Frederick J. Gould was a member). A photocopy of a Memorial Notice of Julian Gould was acquired in November 2007.

There has been one accrual. It consists of Hall’s manuscript diary, 8 paginated, 4 looseleaf foolscap leaves in length. A typed transcript accompanies the journal. The first entry is dated 11 December 1861: “The following is the diary of our passage from Dublin, to Hamilton. C.W.” The last entry is dated 1 February [1862] upon arrival in Hamilton: “The town is very prettily situated on a Bay called ‘Burlington’, and is about 70 miles from the ‘Falls of Niagara’, and contains about 25,000 inhabitants. Thus ends my diary.”
