There have been two accruals. The first accrual contains material from before the merger of the two locals and after the merger. The second accrual consists of correspondence, reports, and printed materials.

The Hamilton history collection consists of essays written about Hamilton by McMaster students for Professor John Weaver of the McMaster University History Department and numbered file folders containing news clippings about Hamilton.

Additionally, it lists some material available in the Marjorie Freeman Campbell and Mabel Burkholder collections, which are related to the material here.

The fourth accrual (5-1997) consists of 2 files. The fifth accrual (29-1997) consists of 10 files. The sixth accrual (02-1998) consists of 3 files. The seventh accrual (09-1999) measures 38 cm. The eighth accrual (25-2002) measures 12 cm. The ninth accrual (18-2006) measures 12 cm.

There have been three accruals. The first accrual, which consisted of photographic slides and camera equipment, was deacessioned in July 2008. The second accrual (28-1996, 32-1996) measures 1 m, and is arranged into the following series: personal correspondence; legal correspondence and documents; Canadian Red Cross society; Samuel B. Freeman scrapbooks; memorabilia; certificates and awards; photographs and albums. It includes legal correspondence relating to the family property on 341 James St. South. The third accrual (29-1998) measures 3 cm and consists of correspondence, news clippings and a photograph.

The fonds contains personal documents, appointments calendars, addresses and lectures, overseas visits, correspondence concerning the U.S.W.A. international election of 1973, periodicals containing articles about Sefton.

The fonds consists of files on the many organizations he was involved with. In addition to those listed above, they include B'nai B'rith, Burlington Beach Citizens' Committee, City of Hamilton Committee of Adjustment, Estate Planners Council, Hamilton Lawyers' Club, Hamilton-Wentworth Progressive Conservative Association, Head-of-the-Lake Historical Society, MacDonald Club of Hamilton, United Nations Association. The fonds also contains manuscripts of his lectures and speeches.

The fonds arrived in complete disarray. His domestic correspondence, bills, bank accounts with many overdraft notices, and numerous requests for payment from local merchants were mixed together with his union papers which, in themselves, had no order either. With the exception of correspondence he received from his friends serving with the Canadian forces during World War II, none of this domestic material has been retained. What remains has been arranged as follows: correspondence; appointment calendars and diaries; labour negotiations; committees; Steelworkers Social Club; finances; conferences; photographs, job descriptions, personal documents, articles and notes, printed materials and realia.

Hamilton Steel Wheel Company Limited was incorporated in 1916 by letter patent under the first part of the Companies Act with its head office in Hamilton, Ontario. Both certificates are stamped "cancelled".

The fonds consists of a constitution and minutes. The constitution, dated 10 August 1953, is written on ten pages of a titled bound book. Most of the book is blank but the last three pages contain minutes of meetings from September to December 1853.

The fonds consists of three slip-cased, bound minute books: 4 January 1949-5 December 1964; December 1964-17 December 1980; 21 January 1981-17 September 1991; 15 October 1991-16 March 1993. The latter two contain financial statements.

Fonds consist of a minute book, 18 November 1992 to 20 April 1994. The book also contains monthly financial statements.

The fonds consists of the business records of the Union from its founding to 1979. This includes the labour agreements that precipitated the 1906 Strike.
