The manuscript is the first page of the Lauda Sion Salvatorem, one of the sequences from the Roman Catholic Mass of Corpus Christi. This sequence was written by Thomas Aquinas in 1264, providing the dating parameters for the manuscript. With illuminated letter "L" and ornamented letters "Q" and "L" on the recto, and two ornamented "Q"s on the verso.

These two leaves from the 1477 edition of Rainier of Pisa's Pantheologia printed by Anton Koberger. These incunabula pages imitate manuscripts with letters added in red and blue, as well as small highlights done to other letters. There is some evidence of illumination or planned drollery in the margin of one page.

The collection consists of forty-five letters from John Wigmore to his parents, plus two additional letters from his brother Bill, written between 1942-44.

The item is a map of Korea showing missions of various Episcopal, Presbyterian and Methodist churches, [1952]. Includes enclosing envelope from mailing.

There are two letters written by Arthur Medland. The first is written to his Uncle, William P. White, the second is written to Douglas S. White, who seems to be William's son based on the content of the letters. Medland's letter to Douglas mentions the Tunisian Campaign. Medland has given the day and month, but not the date. His letter to Douglas is mostly likely written in 1943, given the time of the Tunisian Campaign and the active service of the HMCS Owen Sound, but it could be later. It is presumed that the letter to William is the same year, but again could be later.

The third letter was written by Jim [Shanock?] (1495306), an Aircraftman with the RAF, based at Sharjah in what is now Dubai. He was serving as part of the Persian and Iraq Force when he wrote to a Canadian, [Ian or Tom] Lancaster (JX391082), on board the HMCS Moose Jaw in July 1943. A couple of words have been excised from the letter by the censor.

Paper soldiers were a popular children’s entertainment or decoration beginning in the 1700s, rising to a height of popularity in the mid-19th century, before all but dying out after the Second World War. This small collection typifies the range of materials on offer from the late 1800s into the post First World War period from German printers (two of the companies were in Germany, the third was in the Alsace region, which at the time was under the rule of the German Kaiser). Some are printed on heavy card (soldaten auf karton, eg. item 1) while others on thin newsprint. There are examples of a number of styles, including simple cut-outs, others that could be glued together to create three-dimensional landscapes and objects, as well as black and white images for children to colour (eg. item 13). There is also one example of the scheibenbilder (target picture) style (item 16). German is always the first language on the sheets, but many included French and English, and some Italian and Spanish, showing the world-wide market for the material.

The Carl Joseph Scholz company of Mainz (founded 1793 and still in existence as of 2015) has a long history in both the printing industry and paper soldier manufacture. At one point their distribution of toy soldiers went as far East as Russian, and west to Great Britain and North America. The company stayed in the Scholz family at least until the Second World War.

Hohenstein & Lange operated in Berlin from 1876-1906. In 1898 the company became a joint-stock company and the inclusion of Druck und Verlag, Aktiengesellschaft Berliner Luzuspapier-fabrik vorm Hohenstein & Lang on item 11, date it to this later period.

There have been many iterations of Carl Burckardt’s original company, but they all maintained a variation of the name. The paper soldiers in this collection are all printed under the Druck u. Verlag v. C. Burckardt Nacht in Weissenburg (Elsass) imprint, which existed from 1890-1906.

Collection consists of items originating from prisoners held in German concentration camps, internment and transit camps, Gestapo prisons, and POW camps, during and just prior to World War II. Most of the collection consists of letters written or received by prisoners, but also includes receipts for parcels, money orders and personal effects; paper currency; and realia, including Star of David badges that Jews were forced to wear.

Collection consists of newspapers (85 titles, ca. 400 issues); broadsides (97 items); leaflets (130 items); and publications (30 items) produced by or relating to the underground resistance in Belgium during the Second World War. The third accrual (13-2000) consists of manuscripts, correspondence, photographs, and printed materials. The fourth accrual (13-2005) has been arranged in the following series: manuscripts, typescripts and proofs; correspondence; manuscripts by others; personal documents and other materials (includes photographs); posters. The fifth accrual (05-2011) consists of Ball’s business archives as an antiquarian bookseller of Canadian literature: William Nelson Books (1972-1985); Nelson Ball, Bookseller (1985-2010). The sixth accrual (2016-029) consists of manuscripts, typescripts and proofs for books of poetry and some prose.

The fonds consists of business and administrative papers for the company, including manuscripts, correspondence, editorial decisions and promotion. It also includes files related to the Belford Distributing Company Ltd.

This collection includes publications, archival documents and stamps relating to Anti-Semitism, the Holocaust and Judaica.

The fonds consists of letters that Gerald Blake wrote to his mother and to his brother, Clive Blake, of London, England, concerning his experiences on the Western front. There are also a few letters from Angus Macmillan to Clive Blake. Macmillan was also at the front.

The first accrual (47-1992) measures12.8 m, and is arranged in the following series: administration; campaigns; research files; peace groups; financial records; photographs, posters, and circulars; films, filmstrips, videocassette, and audio cassettes; Toronto Association for Peace. Arrangement is chronological in the administration series with alphabetical ordering within each year, and alphabetical for the following series with some classification ranking. In the administration series some of the material was found in complete disarray. Undated material in a particular year may not belong to that year. The second accrual (07-1995) measures .9 m, and is arranged chronologically in one series, administration. The third accrual (20-2002) measures .2 m, and is arranged in one series, administration and contains constitution and minutes, financial records, correspondence, fund raising and campaigns and publications and affiliations. The fourth accrual (32-2003) measures 15 cm and is arranged in one series, John Hanly Morgan correspondence, and includes minutes, circulars, news clippings, and photographs collected by Morgan. Morgan's original chronological arrangement has been maintained.

This fonds consists largely of material relating to Calamai’s career in journalism. The files contain professional materials, including research, writing, and items, and some personal materials. There are extensive files for Calamai’s major journalism projects, and there are a large number of files that include clippings and teleprint copies of Calamai’s many news articles. The files also include general reportorial material that Calamai has accumulated during his long career as a reporter. Donated books were removed from the rest of the materials and have been catalogued for Research Collections.

The archive consists of original scores, photographs, memorabilia, programs, correspondence, personal items and clippings.

The fonds consists of administrative and financial records, correspondence, briefs, publications, photographs and newspaper clippings all relating to the CYC (1935-1942), provincial and local youth councils, and to the World Youth Congress. Included is a copy of "Brief on a National Youth Administration", from the book Canadian Youth Comes of Age (1939) by Kenneth Woodsworth, who was co-secretary of the CYC. There is, in addition, a microfilm record of several items collected by the Victoria Youth Council (1966-1972).
