This is the first accrual of the Mutart Family fonds, which focuses exclusively on the wartime service of Reginald Francis Mutart (7 June 1897 – 2 August 1929) during the First World War, and of his son Robert Jack Mutart (7 May 1923 – 3 February 1962) during the Second World War. The fonds consists of photocopies of 19 letters sent home by Reginald, as well as several original photographs, postcards, and service-related material. For Robert, the fonds contains 188 wartime letters from Robert to Anne, both before and after their marriage in 1945, as well as 89 letters from Robert to his family, and photographs of Robert during his service and of his wedding. There is also a small number of letters sent to Robert’s family from Vincent M. Curran, a close military friend, on behalf of Robert while he was ill.  

Titles of series (with the exception of 22 and 23) are derived from chapter headings used by Thomson for a proposed autobiography for which the materials were gathered. Series 22 has been created by the archivist to contain all the correspondence to and from David Smith. Series 23 has been created to house audio-visual material in one place. Fonds consists primarily of materials documenting Scarlett’s music career, which spanned five decades. This includes contracts, travel plans for tours, performance programmes, promotional materials, photographs, recordings, sheet music, and other materials. There is also a small amount of personal materials, including correspondence, chiefly with singer-songwriter and painter Mendelson Joe, letters to the Canadian government, drafts of op-eds, and other materials.

The fonds consists of Wolfe's M.A. thesis, "A Study of Cultural and Political Nationalism and Racism as Reflected in the Pages of Saturday Night" and material from his book, A Saturday Night Scrapbook.

The fonds consists of letters written by Drury to his mother, grandmother, grandfather and aunt Fran. The letters discuss Drury's day to day activities, the people he has met and the places he has visited. In the last letter Drury describes his experience with the Fleet Illuminations and includes a newspaper clipping (17 July 1935) covering the event.

The letters are hand written in ink and pencil on varying qualities of paper. A preservation copy was made of a letter written in pencil on poor quality paper. Repair work was done to the newspaper clipping and a preservation copy included in the file.

The archive consists of original scores, photographs, memorabilia, programs, correspondence, personal items and clippings.

The fonds consists of manuscripts of Novotny's research including his thesis and twelve chapters from an unidentified work, lecture notes from classes at Champlain College, and a small amount of correspondence.

The fonds consists of b&w photographs removed from an album. They are both family and business photographs. The business photographs include one with a group of men standing in front of a make-shift building with the sign “Robert Miller & Sons, General Contractors”. Many photographs show the construction of what appears to be a lock wall with gates. The family photographs include the following: formal family portraits, one of which is captioned “Young Fred”; vacation photographs at the family cottage north of Toronto – one is dated 1904 – with boats; vacation photographs of a trip out West possibly in the mid to late 1910s, including the Yale Hotel and Stanley Park; photographs of various family members in automobiles with one captioned “Packard?”,possibly mid to late 1910s; lakeships, group on a boat, children playing and other photographs. In addition, the fonds contains the marriage certificate of Fred R. Miller and Edna A. Noxon.

This fonds contains material relating to the first three presidents. Most pre-1957 material is located in the Divinity College archives. There is some material relating to Alvin A. Lee before he became president.

The fonds consists of recordings of prominent speakers and theorists in the field of Peace and Conflict Studies. Many, but not all, of the recordings were done at McMaster University. The topics covered are wide-ranging, and there is enormous diversity within each series. A small selection of some of the more well-represented topics includes post-secondary education in El Salvador, the arms trade, violence in Sri Lanka, the Middle East, Central America, women and violence, nuclear disarmament, trade unionism in South Africa, and human rights in Guatemala. Some of the speakers are Noam Chomsky, Chief Ovide Mercredi, Ursula Franklin, Mubarak Awad, Helen Caldicott, Ramsey Clark, Joseph Rotblat, Gwynne Dyer and Gene Sharp.

The fonds primarily consists of correspondence between the family during the Second World War.

The archive consists of the business records of McClelland & Stewart, including manuscripts, author correspondence, editorial decisions, etc.

Fonds consists of material related to several documentary projects, including Tuesday Night: Politics of Entertainment and ‘The Hollywood Ten’ (CBC-TV, 1970) and The California Movie (CBC-TV, 1970); material from his war-time freelance coverage of the Vietnam War; travel journals; photographs taken during research for his documentary on the Soviet war in Afghanistan, Witnesses (1988); and clippings.

The first accrual consists of records associated with the Public Service Alliance of Canada (the strike of the Clerical and Regulatory Group in September-October 1980; the national strike of federal employees in September 1991) and the Canadian Union of Labour Employees (negotiations and agreements between 1982 to 1986). It also contains material on union activity in the Caribbean countries, the Commonwealth Trade Union Council, and the Mayor’s Committee on Community, Race, and Ethnic Relations in North York.

The second accrual consists of the following five series: Public Alliance of Canada (PSAC) Triannual Convention, Toronto, 1982; PSAC National Conference of Education Programs and other, 1990-1999; PSAC National Conference of Regional Reps and Regional Conference of Ontario, 1991-1994; Canadian Union of Labour Employees (CULE) and Commonwealth Trade Union council and Caribbean projects 1985-2009.

The third accrual consists of manuals for the instructors of internal union courses and education programs. The third accrual is arranged by organization, with PSAC coming first, and the others following alphabetically. The material arrived in binders and has been placed in folders for preservation reasons.

The fonds contains material related to her professional life with some additional personal material. This includes newspaper clippings of her articles, drafts of her article-length and book-length material, digital files used during presentations, correspondence, garden design plans, digital files of her appearances on television shows, and other material.

Series arrangement has been supplied by the processing archivist following functional analysis. Most arrangement within series is chronological. Series and file titles have been supplied by the archivist based on content of the material.

The fonds consists of fourteen letters written by soldiers in appreciation of the gifts sent to them as well as one b&w photograph.
