The second accrual (23-1996) consists of files from Allen's office in Queen's Park, covering the period 1982-1995. By and large this accrual consists of reports, briefs, news releases, press clippings, photocopies of internal memos, communiques, and printed matter. The original material consists of daily journals, correspondence to and from Allen to constituents and colleagues in the New Democratic Party, correspondence to and from federal cabinet ministers, holograph or typescript versions of speeches and notes. Frequently, incoming and outgoing correspondence is one of multiple copies. Original order has been maintained as much as possible in the arrangement of this accrual. The titles that appear on the files are the original titles. The series and subseries are organized in an attempt to reflect the career of Richard Allen: Series 1: in opposition 1982-1990; Subseries: Hamilton; education; Francophone affairs; Community and Social Services & Office of the Disabled; personal and administrative. Series 2: minister and member of government, 1990-1995. Subseries: Meech Lake and post-Meech Lake; Minister of Colleges & Universities; Minister Responsible for the Ontario Training & Adjustment Board; Minister of International Trade; Minister of Housing; Minister's administrative files. Series 3: sound recordings and videocassette, 1989-1995. It should be noted that a chronological arrangement within the sub-series has been attempted, in order to trace the prolific political endeavours of Allen. Box numbering in this accrual is sequential with the previous accrual. The third accrual (24-2000) consists of administrative files reflecting Allen's political activities sukch as council minutes, reports, election results, press releases and promotional materials. The accrual also contains files relating to GO-ALRT and the Canadian Porcelain Project.

There have been four accruals. The first accrual (57-1995, 30 cm) consists of manuscripts and research notes for three of his published works, Interior Landscapes: A Life of Paul Nash (1987), The Last Modern: A Life of Herbert Read (1990), and Virginia Woolf (1994); draft typescript and galley proof; and editorial and literary correspondence (including Graham Greene, Stephen Spender, Muriel Spark, and Francis Bacon).

The second accrual (26-1997, 60 cm) consists of material relating to The Life of Margaret Laurence (1997), editorial notes, photographs and correspondence (including Margaret Atwood, Timothy Findley, Al Purdy, and letters from Margaret Laurence to her editor, Alan Maclean.

The third accrual (27-1999, 68 cm) consists of three series: manuscripts and related material for Faking (1999) and Jack: A Life with Writers, The Story of Jack McClelland (1999), photographs, and literary correspondence.

The fourth accrual (16-2001, 20 cm) consists of two draft typescripts of *Farley: The Life of Farley Mowat</I> (2002) and editorial correspondence.

The fonds consists of audio cassettes, which are correspondence tapes and narrative, research, and memoir tapes that Madzy created later in her life. The correspondence tapes were sent to friends and close family members. The fonds also included two of Madzy’s published books, Land for Our Sons (1958) and Madzy’s Dutch translation Land Voor Onze Zonen (1960), which have been catalogued separately for Research Collections.

The fonds consists of two series. One series contains correspondence, submissions, photographs (both used and not used) and issue files for Canada: An Historical Magazine. The other series contains microfilms of historical research materials that Gagan used for his book, Hopeful Travellers: Families, Land and Social Change in Mid-Victorian Peel County, Canada West (c 1981). The major part of the fonds consists of sales invoices. They indicate who was buying what items of Canadiana and what prices were being paid. Almost invariably correspondence initiating or relating to the sale was attached to the invoices and they have been left there. Many of the buyers are Canadian university or public libraries and academics, particularly those in the field of Canadian history. As well as the invoice series, there is a full set of catalogues, financial statements, credit notes, correspondence relating to book auctions and general correspondence.
