Fonds consists of 50 items, most of which are letters to Clarke concerning military matters falling under his control as Secretary at War. Several of the letters were sent to Clarke from Mullingar, where the English army established a military depot in 1690, and were received in various places as he moved through the countryside: at Dublin (Mar. 1690); Limerick (Aug. 1690); Cashells (Sept. 1690); Dublin (Nov. 1690); Clonmel (Dec. 1690); Kilkenny (Dec. 1960). Other letters concern Clarke’s personal affairs, with letters from his mother (who nonetheless also informed her son of military matters, as her husband had also been Secretary at War) and from the women who managed his manor at Kilkenny during his absence.

There are two series. The first series consists of letters P.T. Caiger wrote to Annie Wells (later his wife), 1907-1918; 1916-1918 predominant. The second series consists of letters Eric Caiger wrote to his parents, 1939-1947. There are also a few letters to him from his parents and others.

The fonds (15-1988) is arranged into the following series: minute books, financial, labour negotiations, and publications. Financial includes budget ledgers, cash book pages, estimates and reports, expenses and receipts, annual reports, income taxes, and union dues. Labour relations includes negotiations, agreements, regulations and guidelines, employee benefits, correspondence, and grievances. Publications include convention reports and photographs.

The fonds consists of materials from his time in high school and university and then his military career.

There have been two accruals. The first accrual consists of three copybooks, 1934-1938, kept by Isy Esses. The copybooks contain carbons of his handwritten letters as well as financial statements and shipment lists. Other documents, such as telegrams, receipts, invoices, and bills of exchange, are either pasted into the books or found loose. There are also incoming and outgoing letters and other documents, 1938-1941, which have been removed from a binder. The second accrual consists of one copybook, 1939-1942, as well as several files of correspondence. Almost all of the fonds is in English, although there are a few documents in Arabic.

The fonds consists of 53 black and white photographs and photographic postcards, most showing World War I aircraft. Many have messages or annotations on the reverse side. They have been organized into five groupings: those showing Bruce Doherty, those identified as Toronto, those identified as Texas, those showing airmen and aircraft, and others (includes one Christmas card).
