The fonds consists of correspondence, reports, and accounts. Books by and about Swedenborg which supplement this fonds have been catalogued for Research Collections.

This collection consists primarily of illustrative labels from cigar boxes manufactured by cigar companies in the United States in the last decade of the nineteenth century when cigar companies became aware of the importance of advertising their products to a large number of discriminating cigar smokers. The major companies were: Geo. S. Harris & Sons, Lith. Phila.; L.E. Neumann & Co.; Schumacher & Ettinger N.Y.; and Schmidt & Co. With regard to Canadian cigar companies, Adam Beck. London Ont. is represented, and there is also a box lid from Joseph Winterhalt of Berlin (now Kitchener), Ont. The labels were lithographed with original designs and often patriotic motifs: young women, historical figures, heroes of battles, native people, sports and leisure, Cuba and the Caribbean, and events of the day. The collection consists of posters advertising shows by a variety of circuses and Wild West shows including Cole Brothers and Ringling Brothers & Barnum and Bailey. There have been two accruals. The first accrual has 36 posters. The second accrual has five posters, including one in German.

The fonds consists of five accruals. The first accrual measures 1.35 m, and consists of material relating to The Outport People and 7 journals. The third accrual (02-1992) measures 66 cm, and is arranged in two series consisting of journals and correspondence. The fourth accrual (03-1993) measures 66 cm, and is arranged in three series consisting of: manuscripts, correspondence and journals. The fifth accrual (09-1997) measures 70 cm, and is arranged in four series consisting of: fan mail, fan mail to Farley Mowat answered by Claire Mowat, manuscripts and research material primarily devoted to Pomp and Circumstances, and journals. The sixth accrual (17-2006) measures 64 cm and consists of manuscripts and research material, predomiantly drafts of the author's books Girl from Away, The French Islands, Last Summer in Louisbourg and Travels with Farley.

The fonds consists of the following documents: a military certificate, noting that Claude Guillot is a volunteer in a military company stationed in Marseille, 6 June 1789; a letter of recommendation from his military company, 11 June 1794; a certificate of his admission to hospital in Mezierot on 14 July 1794; a travel document, 10 April 1798.

Fonds consists of two b&w photographs which depict Timmons standing beside and sitting in his airplane at Camp Borden in Ontario and a Royal Flying Corps identification bracelet. Fonds also contains an explanatory letter from R. Slobodin to William Ready of McMaster University.

The fonds consists of correspondence, photographs and artwork. There are three letters associated with Clingan: one letter he wrote as a child to his father, one letter from A. Clingan that discusses him during World War I, and a third letter from a pal of his written on 9 January 1916. There are sixteen letters written by his son-in-law Lt. Colin Murray to his wife from Hannover in 1953. Graphic material includes a portrait of Clingan during World War II taken in Kirkgate, Yorks. and a caricature of him (pencil, ink, water-colour) at Aldershot in 1941. There are photographs of the Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa in 1940 and 1942; the Stoney Creek Band; the 260th Barracks, 2nd River; a Canadian troopship bound for Siberia; picture postcards of Vladivostock, and unidentified military photographs. Most of the photographs were removed from frames – numbers are written on the verso but their meaning is not known. Also in the fonds is a photograph of Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, at a military base, a kilt pin, printed “Returned Soldiers’ Insurance” certificates issued to Clingan in 1930, and a printed issue of the Cameron Highlanders’ Journal from 1939. Clingan’s medals were sold at Bonhams in May 2009 and do not form part of this fonds.

There have been two accruals. The first accrual consists of prints pertaining to Canada from a variety of nineteenth-century journals. Subjects include the railway, visits of the royal family, sports, ship building, the search for Franklin, Niagara Falls, and various communities and cities. The second accrual consists of photocopies of two photograph albums containing pictures of McMichael uncles and aunts. There is also one photograph of McMichael uncles. The photograph is a reproduction done in 1995 from a nineteenth century photograph. There is a list identifying the uncles.

Translated title: Collected from the Patent Rolls of King Richard II in the Tower of London. Late 17th century manuscript. The manuscript contains information copied out of the Chancery Patent Rolls which were recorded during the reign of Richard II (1377-1399). The entries are summaries, written in Latin, of those contained in the Rolls and are a selective collection of the material. The county associated with each entry has been noted in the margin throughout and occasionally references “m.#” possibly to the Membrane it was from or as a reference to a different record.

Physical description: Folio. Binding is from the 18th century, full-leather, calf, which has been blind tooled with a Cambridge panel. The spine was later re-backed in sheep skin in the 19th century, likely February 1860, when the manuscript was sent for repairs by Bellamy Burton (repair slip has been sewn in between pp.8-9).

The manuscript is written on laid paper with a couple of different watermarks, see pp. 57 and 211.

Included with the manuscript is pp.181-182 of The Graphic, from 3 August 1912.

The book is a series of different manuscripts, gathered together into one volume. The compiler has numbered all the pages and included an overall index. The pages come from various sources causing repeats of individuals and in a few places incomplete entries.
