This collection consists of three posters created by artist, Mark Podwal (b. 1945), to protest the Vietnam War. Podwal is well known for his drawings in The New York Times opinion page. In addition, he is the author and illustrator of books for children as well as for adults.
The three posters are printed on heavy cream paper with original pen, brush, and ink drawings by Podwal. All three feature quotations and were created sometime between 1965-1975:

1. “If anyone in days to come should say that we were civilized in this country, this war will be cited as proof we were barbarians.”
2. “To sin by silence when they should protest makes cowards of men – Abraham Lincoln.”
3. “November 15, Washington, D.C. – Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.” Created for or in response to the Moratorium March in 1969.

The collection consists of 10 sepia photographs pasted on board. Most of the photographs are captioned with the names of the men in the photographs. Col. Leach, V.C. is identified as being in one of the photographs. This is surely General Sir Edward Pemberton Leach (1847-1913) who won his V.C. in 1879 and rose of the rank of General with the Royal Engineers. One of them has “Notman Studio” printed on the photograph. There is a photograph of the Wellington Barracks.

The papers in this collection consists mainly of material from the First World War relating to Lieut. Cullen Perry and Lieut. John Ham Perry of Whitby, Ontario. The Perry brothers came from a family tradition of military service dating from the Loyalist Oliver Hazard Perry, who fought in the War of 1812 (Battle of Lake Erie). Both volunteered when the war began in 1914. The archive consists of letters, photographs, ephemera, and other service material: Military Service Record book, diary, flight log, and other items. Additionally, there is a scrap book kept by John, following the war.

Poems, anecdotes, and jokes collected by Mary Jane Arbuthnot Keane, 124 p. manuscript;
Abbotsford the Seat of Sir Walter Scott by W. H. Lizars, an engraving;
The White Rock as in 1833 by E. M. L., a drawing in pencil on gray paper;
Town and Mountains / by E. M. L., a drawing in pencil; and,
Asian gentleman, ship, flora and fauna, a series of watercolours.

There is correspondence from La compaignie générale maritime, Le gouvernment des establissement français dans l'Inde (India), and La Ministère de l'Algérie (Algeria) et des colonies. Recipients include Monsieur de Challié, capitaine de vaipeau, president de la commission supérieure d'immigration. The collection also contains two swatches of jute, perhaps woven by artisans in Pondicherry

This collection consists primarily of illustrative labels from cigar boxes manufactured by cigar companies in the United States in the last decade of the nineteenth century when cigar companies became aware of the importance of advertising their products to a large number of discriminating cigar smokers. The major companies were: Geo. S. Harris & Sons, Lith. Phila.; L.E. Neumann & Co.; Schumacher & Ettinger N.Y.; and Schmidt & Co. With regard to Canadian cigar companies, Adam Beck. London Ont. is represented, and there is also a box lid from Joseph Winterhalt of Berlin (now Kitchener), Ont. The labels were lithographed with original designs and often patriotic motifs: young women, historical figures, heroes of battles, native people, sports and leisure, Cuba and the Caribbean, and events of the day. There have been six accruals. The first accrual consists mainly of sheet music. There are also programmes, books and pamphlets in the first accrual as well as puzzles and games, time blocks, wooden notes -- all of these used to teach children music by the Fletcher music method. The second accrual consists mainly of books although there is some sheet music. The third and fourth accruals (26-2007; 50-2008) are sheet music, as are the fifth and sixth accruals. Many of the books in the second accrual are published in the United States and Britain. Eventually the books from both accruals will be catalogued either for Research Collections or the general library stacks. There are still several boxes of sheet music that have not yet been unpacked. There are also three copies of a poster, "'Cello, Otto Joachim, Kinderspiel", n.d.

There have been five accruals. The collection consists of items related to Canadian politics. It includes correspondence, posters, photographs, campaign literature, a newspaper, and cartoon drawings by Duncan Macpherson.

Posters and leaflets in the collection encourage people to emigrate to Canada.

The collection consists of documents prepared by the organizing committee, teaching literature used at the various meetings, posters, statements, and press reports in both French and English.

There have been two accruals. The first accrual consists of 923 songs from 1714-1830. The second accrual consists of approximately 1,000 songs from 1700-1830. Both accruals of songs are mainly from the Georgian Era, that is during the reigns of the four Georges. The majority of the songs were published in London, England.

The Hamilton history collection consists of essays written about Hamilton by McMaster students for Professor John Weaver of the McMaster University History Department and numbered file folders containing news clippings about Hamilton.

Additionally, it lists some material available in the Marjorie Freeman Campbell and Mabel Burkholder collections, which are related to the material here.

The collection consists of manuscripts. There have been three accruals which have been combined.

Twenty-four of the letters are written by Liszt to a variety of correspondents; one letter is addressed to Liszt from the Executive Committee for the Mozart Jubilee. There is one letter from Dr. S. Jadassohn to an unknown correspondent. The letters are in French and German. The collection also includes translations of documents, a conference report for a concert held in Budapest, a piano completion certificate for one of Liszt's students, a photograph and a contract.
