The fonds consists of correspondence, photographs, printed and audio-visual materials which document Brott’s life and career. There is also some material related to his parents and his brother, Denis, a cellist.
The materials are mainly in English although there is some French, Italian and Spanish.

The Jo Vellacott fonds contains extensive documentation regarding Vellacott’s work as a historian of women, feminism, pacifism, and Bertrand Russell, both as an academic at several Canadian universities, as well as her work as an independent scholar. The fonds contains a significant amount of correspondence, both personal and professional, which spans almost the entirety of Vellacott’s life. Fonds also contains materials relating to Vellacott’s education, particularly her PhD work at McMaster University, and much of her personal and scholarly writings. It also contains materials relating to Vellacott’s Quakerism and involvement with the Thousand Island Monthly Meetings, as well as photographs of Vellacott and paintings and sketches she made.

Fonds consists of 74 diaries, relating to research trips, academic administration, and his daily life.

There have been five accruals. The first accrual consists of correspondence, artist's proofs of wood engravings, limited editions, sketches, sketchbooks, free-hand drawings on tracing paper, news clippings and keepsakes as well as manuscript material, photographs, slides and audio cassettes. This accrual of the Brender à Brandis fonds was accompanied by a donation of some of his book imprints. The collection has been catalogued for Research Collections. The accrual (1.45 m) is arranged into 5 series: personal correspondence; manuscripts; news clippings and ephemera; graphic material; sound recordings. The second accrual (53 cm) consists of pencil, pen and ink, charcoal drawings and sketches, watercolour paintings, artist's proofs, limited editions and other prints done in the linocut and wood engraving technique. A book which accompanies this accrual has been catalogued for Research Collections. The accrual is arranged into 3 series: drawings; paintings; engravings. The third accrual consists mostly of graphic material, as well as a few clippings, two reel to reel films, and some additional monographs which have been added to the Division's collection. The fourth accrual consists of personal correspondence from Gerard Brender à Brandis and other members of his family to Donald Bragg, graphic materials, and seven books which have been added to the Division’s collection. The fifth accrual consists mostly of graphic material and engraved woodblocks. There are 167 wood engraving prints, along with 43 engraved woodblocks, a small number of photographs, and DVDs with tours of Brender à Brandis’ workshop.

The fonds consists of material related to Sutherland's writing, including the marketing, publishing and promotion of his works; material pertaining to speaking engagements and workshops; the works of other authors; and material related to his personal life and that of his son Malcolm Sutherland (1984-2009). The fonds contains correspondence, manuscripts, clippings, and other material.

The fonds consists of thirteen accruals. The first accrual consists of Boxes 1-31 and is arranged into 6 series: personal correspondence, business correspondence, correspondence relating to poetry readings, interview and fan mail, unpublished works and published works. This accrual measures 4.03 m.

The second accrual (04-1988) consists of Boxes 32 - 66 and is arranged into 10 series: manuscripts, poetry worksheets, articles, personal correspondence, business and literary correspondence, readings, workshops and festivals, published work in journals, writer-in-residence and grants, awards and applications. The accrual measures 6.5 m.

The third accrual (35-1991) extends to 3.0 m and consists of boxes 67-74 and is arranged into 6 series: manuscripts; correspondence; teaching and writer-in residence; awards, competitions and readings; financial and legal and personal.

The fourth accrual (44-1997), which extends to 6.93 m, consists of boxes 75 - 95 and is arranged into 6 series: manuscripts; correspondence; electronic correspondence; teaching, student work, readings and juries; business, financial and personal and published materials and videotapes.

The fifth accrual (21-2001), which extends to 9.0 m, consists of boxes 96-143 and is arranged into the following 7 series: manuscripts; correspondence; the Writers' Union of Canada; Writers' In Electronic Residence programme; Mentorship programme and Editorial; Readings, grants, awards, juries, reviews and projects; and personal and miscellaneous.

The sixth accrual (32-2004) which extends to 6.3 m, and has been arranged in seven series: teaching, correspondence, writing, writing related activities, personal documentation and memorabilia, printed material, and moving images and sound recordings.has not been arranged, described or measured.

The seventh accrual (71-2008) measures 8 m and has been arranged into six series: teaching; correspondence; writing and royalties; readings, conferences, appointment books; photographs, artwork, moving images.

The eighth accrual (26-2011) measures 1.9 m and has been arranged into five series: writing; correspondence; teaching, readings, workshops and conferences; personal; printed and other materials.

The ninth accrual (2012-11) measures 1.5 m and has been arranged into 8 series: Manuscripts of novels and poetry; Research; Teaching, Festivals and Events; Business; Correspondence; Manuscripts edited by Musgrave; Personal; and Audio-Visual and graphic materials.

The 10th accrual (2015-16) measures 1.9 m and is arranged into seven series: literary and business; Teaching, workshops, readings and speeches; Correspondence; writing by others; personal; graphic and audio-visual.

The 11th-12th accruals (2012-011, 2018-035) measures 42.4 cm and is arranged into four series: Typescripts and writing, professional and research, correspondence, and memorabilia.

The 13th accrual (2021-002, 2021-022, 2018-35 and partial accessions from 2011 and 2012). The accrual measures 3.0 m and is arranged into 8 series: Writing; Personal; Professional; Travel; Business; Correspondence; Graphic and Published materials.

Fonds contains personal material and records related to Stephen’s professional roles, including speaking notes, correspondence, research material, and audio-visual material. Several series are arranged by the offices he held over the course of his career: i.e., Member of Provincial Parliament and Leader of the Ontario New Democratic Party (1963-1977), Canada’s Ambassador to the United Nations (1984-1988), Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF (199), and United Nations Special Envoy to HIV/AIDS in Africa (2001-2006). Collection consists of chapbooks, broadsides, literary periodicals, and ephemera collected by Barwin from predominantly Canadian small presses. 138 small presses are included in the collection, with heavy representation from influential chapbook publishers above/ground press, Proper Tales Press, and No Press. Barwin’s press, Serif of Nottingham, is also heavily featured.

Fonds consists of material created and collected by Keith Patrick during his time as a Wireless Air Gunner in the RCAF during the Second World War, including correspondence, photographs, training material, realia, and cartographic material. Fonds also includes material collected after the war which relates to his wartime experiences and civilian life.

The fonds consists of research materials, manuscripts, and correspondence pertaining to Brandis’ writing activities; these files depict the extensive research, planning, and revision that she has undertaken while writing. A number of her books were removed from the rest of the materials and have been catalogued for Research Collections.

The third accrual consists of four series: collected poems; manuscripts and typescripts; other literary activities; correspondence. The fourth accrual consists of four series: manuscripts, collected poems, sound recording, personal and literary correspondence. The fifth accrual consists of three series: writings, correspondence, and other work. The sixth accrual contains writing and correspondence. The seventh accrual consists of the collected poems for Levenson's thirteenth volume of poetry, as well as correspondence, recordings, and teaching material. The eighth accrual includes reviews, publications, and posters. The ninth accrual consists of the collected poems for Levenson's fourteenth volume of poetry, correspondence, and recordings. The tenth accrual consists of collected poems for Levenson’s fourteenth volume of poetry and correspondence. The eleventh accrual combines accessions 2020—015 and 2021-008. It consists of correspondence, poetry for Levenson’s fourteenth and fifteenth volumes; recordings and Dutch translation of Levenson’s book of poetry. The twelfth accrual is arranged into the following series: Writing; Literary activities; Society of Friends (Quakers); Teaching, Readings, Workshops and publications; Correspondence.

The fonds consists of material related to Dr. Lee’s academic and teaching career, his tenure as President of McMaster University (1980-1990), his professional and personal correspondence, speeches, and honours.

The fonds consists material related to Porter's business, as well as her writing.

The fonds consists of: Manuscripts and publications; Promotional materials; Correspondence, memoranda, and diaries; Personal and family records; Professional teaching; Photographs, sound recordings and moving images; Material relating to Stephen Leacock; Artwork; and other materials.

The collection mainly concerns the formation of an Employees’ Collective Bargaining Committee for the workers in Sault Ste. Marie in December 1941 and the negotiations which followed, culminating in a contract in July1943. The collection contains correspondence, labour legislation documents, draft agreements and other materials, and the completed contract. Correspondents include: Leo H. Timmins; Norman W. Bryne, Secretary; R.O. Denman, Vice-President, Managing Director and Treasurer; officials at the Department of Labour; and others. The collection also contains a Progress Report issued in 1934; a Balance Sheet and Notice of Annual Meeting in 1938; and two undated typescripts written during Word War II. One typescript concerns the development of the company in Sault Ste. Marie. The other is not specifically company related and concerns the struggle of tyranny against democracy.

The fonds consists of two scrapbooks which contain mainly news clippings outlining Ellis' many activities. See also the National Committee for Independent Canadian Unions fonds for further biographical information on Ellis as well as some correspondence.

The b&w photographs depict the survey and construction of secondary rail lines in South Saskatchewan from April to July 1930. They were removed from several pages of an album with the heading “C.P.R. Survey”. Beneath this heading was a photograph of Engine 562. The photographs were taken in Coderre, Alma Lake, Fife Lake, Rockglen and surrounding area. Some of the photographs were printed in Regina. Most of the photographs have descriptive captions written on the verso in pen and pencil in seven different hands with separate numbering sequences. They include photographs of the following: tent camps, pile drivers, horses and wagons (bulldozing, grading), people (including the Chinese cook Jim, Cederic White Rodman, Eddie Sellors, George Lowry, “your son” and “me”), laying of ties and steel, a CPR construction coal shed, surveying, Lake Alma, Coderre, Fife Lake and Rockglen. The rail locations are all south of Regina. The lines that run through Coderre and Alma Lake are abandoned. Rockglen still has a working CPR line although there is an abandoned line just to the west. Fife Lake does not appear on this abandoned rail lines map.

The fonds consists of four letters written to John and Christine McCampbell. All the letters are signed C.C.B. Three are written from Whitney while the fourth is from “Brant and Walker, Z Cross Ranch, Fort St. John, B.C.” The assumption has been made that Christine is his sister and John his brother-in-law, although he does address them as “brother and sister”. The McCampbells are living in Uxbridge Ont. in 1919 and in Thessalon, Ont. in 1922. The most interesting letter is the one written from Fort St. John. He predicts that “this country is going to boom” before too long.
