Scope and content
The fonds consists of the records of the area office and its relationship with the locals under its jurisdiction. A list of the locals can be found in the finding aid for the first accrual.
Immediate source of acquisition
Both accruals were acquired from Ed Thomas of Local 5. The first accrual was acquired in 1994; the second accrual was acquired in April 1999.
There have been two accruals. The first accrual (00-1994) measures 7.5 m, and has been arranged into the following series: communications with and negotiations for locals in and outside the area; correspondence; finance and servicing statistics; bargaining, policies, agreements; committees, councils, other unions; pay equity and job evaluation; strikes and defence funds; information and research; Ontario Council of Hospital Unions negotiations; office administration; printed and published materials. The second accrual (13-1999) measures 3.1 m and has been arranged into the following series: grievances, correspondence, job evaluation and printed materials. The printed materials consist of circulars concerning Hamilton Days of Protest, Bills 48 and 136, CUPE constitutions, conference materials, and a pamphlet on Ontario CUPE history, 30 Years of Service.
