Fonds consists of a recruitment letter dated 15 May 1915 looking for agents to sell and promote Bradley-Garretson publications. Along with the letter are the postmarked envelope and a return envelope, and three advertising supplements that accompanied the letter. One flyer promotes a publication detailing the sinking of the Lusitania. A second promotes a book entitled The World's Greatest War. The final large poster promotes the book Billy Sunday: The Man and His Message. These supplements were tools used by the agents to promote sales of these publications.

The fonds consists of two series. One series contains correspondence, submissions, photographs (both used and not used) and issue files for Canada: An Historical Magazine. The other series contains microfilms of historical research materials that Gagan used for his book, Hopeful Travellers: Families, Land and Social Change in Mid-Victorian Peel County, Canada West (c 1981). The fonds consists of printed and signed ephemera issued in various series. A few leaflets and pamphlets were issued in the preliminary or "Zero Series", most of them in extremely limited runs (as few as five in some cases). The main series also began in 1979, and as of mid-1983 the press had issued over 200 items. The majority of these are small in format and the runs vary from 25 to 200. Most are printed with rubber stamps, but typesetting and photocopying are also used occasionally. There have been many accruals to the fonds, beginning in 1983 and ending in 2000.

The fonds consists of material created during Farr’s career. The McGill University Press material includes the initial proposal document, newspaper clippings, early design prototypes, and graphic materials produced by the press (page proofs, invitations, greeting cards, prints of R.D. Wilson artwork). The Ryerson Press material includes two logo blocks (publisher’s device), newspaper clippings, and various administrative files. Also included in the fonds: correspondence with Marsh Jeanneret, Donald Sutherland, Dick Wilson and W.H. Clarke from Clarke, Irwin & Co. Ltd.; photographs; an unpublished manuscript entitled The Crooked Axe: A Lighthearted Sketch of Canadian History to 1900 written by Farr in 2008 (unpublished at time of this description), and a copy of The Living Past of Montreal, McGill University Press, 1964, drawn by R.D.
