Biographical history
Ruth Nichols, author, was born on 4 March 1948 in Toronto. She was educated at the Universities of British Columbia and McMaster. For a number of years after 1974 she lectured at Carleton University in Ottawa. She is primarily a writer of juvenile novels although she has written some historical novels as well.

Access restrictions: The following materials are closed until the death of Ruth Nichols: manuscripts of The Knife-Grinder's Bell, I Arise, What Dangers Deep: A Story of Philip Sidney, an essay (accession 09-1998) titled "Silence Must Speak", as well as one letter. Other family and personal correspondence, juvenilia, and her Ph.D. thesis are closed for an indefinite time period.
