Biographical history
David A. Robinson was a community leader in Hamilton, Ontario. His interests included: the law, the arts, literature, the welfare of his fellow citizens, and the history of the Jewish faith. He served as Chairman of the Board of Management of the Art Gallery of Hamilton, Honorary Solicitor of the Big Brothers Association, President of the Canadian Club of Hamilton, Chairman of the Board of Education, and President of the Hamilton Association for the Advancement of Literature, Art and Science.

Scope and content
The fonds consists of files on the many organizations he was involved with. In addition to those listed above, they include B'nai B'rith, Burlington Beach Citizens' Committee, City of Hamilton Committee of Adjustment, Estate Planners Council, Hamilton Lawyers' Club, Hamilton-Wentworth Progressive Conservative Association, Head-of-the-Lake Historical Society, MacDonald Club of Hamilton, United Nations Association. The fonds also contains manuscripts of his lectures and speeches.

Immediate source of acquisition
Fonds was donated by his widow, Zelda Robinson in 1974. At one time Mrs. Robinson planned to write a book about her husband. Her outline is in the master file.
